on the homefront

I am a slave to weather.com's weather-on-a-desk(top) program. I don't even mind the stupid advertisements. It's like I don't even see them.

Weather Channel

in the news (or was in the news at least)[11.11.03]
Op-Ed from the Times on Halliburton receiving the huge contract for work in Iraq unfairly.

"The problem with the story is that it's almost entirely untrue. As Daniel Drezner recently established in Slate, there is no statistically significant correlation between the companies that made big campaign contributions and the companies that have won reconstruction contracts."

Thank God... now I can sleep easier.

what is 5,895m tall and located in africa?

I AM.

Mt. Kilimanjaro

Previously there was a longish post here that was mostly ruminations of a metaphysical nature. In other words, it was a longish post filled with shit so I deleted it. Instead a put a picture of Mt. Kilimanjaro, because everyone loves mountains.

I would also like to add a footnote here. this past sunday in the grand tradition and highest form of alcoholics, idiots, and underage drinkers everywhere, i blacked out for four hours. Immaturity is still one of my dearest and closest of companions.

here is a timeline.

6:30pm - 9:30pm Arrive at the bar, carousing begins.
9:30pm - 2:10am Last memory occurs around 9:30.
2:10am Woke up.

You'll notice at 9:30pm, it's labelled "last memory". Put another way 9:30pm - 2:10am might actually be labelled "Time spent thorougly embarrassing and generally making an asshole of myself".

As near as I can figure from friends accounts, I left the bar around 12ish, somehow made my way home. after arriving at my apartment and climbing my stairs I decided that enough was enough and passed out at the top of the stairs for two hours. To say I was disoriented when I woke up would be a massive understatement.

Blacking out for four hours and waking up sober is one thing. Blacking out for four hours and waking up still incredibly drunk and trying to figure out how i got there, where i was, and exactly what the fuck was going on, was damn near impossible.
